Lucien
Variety: Black Hooded
Estimated May 2007 - November 2008
Lucien was another one of the Portsmouth Rescue rats, he was very skittish when he
first arrived and as a result didn't go to foster care like some of the other adult
bucks did. He didn't like other adult bucks but would happily baby sit the young
bucks. When all the young bucks had been rehomed, Lucien stayed but he turned out
be rat agressive and as a result was neutered.
Lucien was put to sleep due to respiratory problems.

Cari
Variety: Champagne Hooded
Feb 2007 - 23rd September 2008
Cari was one of the lickiest rats ever, she'll even lick meds off your finger. Unfortunately
Cari has suffered from respiratory problems with most of her life no doubt as a result of bad breeding.
Cari was put to sleep on 23rd September 2008 due to respiratory problems.
Calliope
Variety: Unknown, possibly Power Blue Chincilla Dumbo
14th September 2007 - 20th September 2008
Calliope is another one of Nuala's babies. When she was a baby she was so cute with
her huge ears and little mismarked blaze that I knew she was staying from about
2 weeks old. Despite being handled by me every day since the day she was born she
turned very skitty like her mother when she reached 3 months old, when she reached
6 months old she turned into a friendly licky rat overnight.
Calliope died as a result of a accident while free ranging.
Silver
Variety: Agouti
Estimated Feb 2007 - 23rd August 2008
Silver was one of a large number of rats rescued from London in the summer of 2007.
She was fostered by Mary of
Zephyr Rats
where she raised her babies. Silver loved people but hatesdto be held, she would
happily run up your leg and climb on your head though. She's more athletic than
any other rat that I have or had and is capable of jumping several feet straight
up in the air. She never sat still and was constantly off investigating something.
Silver was put to sleep on 23rd August 2008 after a stroke.
Rose
Variety: Himalayan
2007 - April 12 2008
I first met Rose when I helped to transport her from Furryfriends rescue in Surrey
to her new home back in September 2007. In December 2007 I was asked by Emma at the rescue
if I could foster her as she needed to go back to rescue and Emma was full. Knowing that if
she came to me she wouldn't leave, it was arranged for her to go to another foster carer via the
MRC Christmas show. However Rose had other ideas and proceeded to climb into my bag and curl up
and go to sleep for the day. After about 2 hours of going "she's not coming home with me", the GMR won
and I phoned Emma and asked her if I could keep her.
Rose was put to sleep on April 12 2008 having developed a tumour on her jaw.
Nicholas Monster Rat
Variety: Champagne Hooded
Unknowned, estimated October 2005 - February 26th 2008
Nicholas Monster Rat and his brother Lawrence came to me in Spring 2007 after their
owner was advertising their cage on freecycle and asked me if I also wanted the rats.
At the risk of not knowing what would happen to the rats if I took their cage I agreed that
the rats would also come. The poor boys were approx 18 months old and had lived in a cage with
little stimulation and very little handling for that whole time. Both were very frightened, and
would launch an attack on you if you put your hand in the cage to fill up the food bowl.
With a lot of patience, time and bribing with yoggies I managed to turn Nicholas from the monster
hand chomping rat that first arrived to a reasonably friendly semi squishy buck.
Nicholas was put to sleep due to old age on February 26th 2008 aged approx 2 1/2 years.
Lawrence
Variety: Agouti Hooded Rex
Unknowned, estimated October 2005 - December 2007
Lawrence came with his brother Nicholas Monster Rat after their cage was advertised on freecycle. Lawrence
was the more timid of the two and took almost 6 months before he was happy to come out of the cage and allowed
me to pick him up, but he never really became a people rat, he just liked to do his own thing.
Lawrence died suddenly in his cage in December 2007.
